MOVYNE

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 26 May 2026

1. Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how MOVYNE (“we”, “us”) handles personal information when you use our mobile application (“App”). We designed the App to collect only what we need to run discovery, lists, accounts, and optional AI help. This policy should be read together with our Terms of Service.

2. Who is responsible

The data controller for the App is Rafael Pereira, operator of MOVYNE. For privacy questions, support, or to exercise your rights, email support@movyne.app. You can also use Settings → Feedback / report a bug in the App.

3. Information we collect

Depending on how you use the App, we may process: • Account data: email address, sign-in identifiers (including via Google or Apple), and profile fields you choose (name, country, bio, banner, favorites). • Photos and camera (optional): when you choose a profile picture or banner, the App reads the image you select from your photo library or — if you grant camera access — captures a new one, and uploads it to our servers as part of your profile. We do not access your photo library otherwise. You can revoke photo or camera permission at any time in iOS or Android Settings. • App activity: watchlist entries, Discover swipe history and stats, taste preferences, Premium status, AI credit balance, notification preferences, and language choice. • AI chat: messages you send in the AI tab and related context needed to generate replies (processed on our servers). • Feedback: email, subject, and message text when you contact us through the feedback form. • Technical data: push notification tokens if you enable push and load a token in the App; basic diagnostics implied by use of our hosting (for example IP address and timestamps in server logs). Much of the above is also stored locally on your device (for example in app storage) so the App works offline or before sync.

4. How we use information

We use information to: provide and personalise the App; sync your data when you are signed in; operate AI and Discover features; send push notifications if you opt in; respond to feedback; prevent abuse; improve reliability and security; comply with law; and enforce our Terms.

5. Legal bases (EEA/UK)

Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on: performance of a contract (providing the App you request); legitimate interests (security, improvement, and analytics that are not invasive); consent (for example optional push notifications or marketing if we add it later); and legal obligation when required.

6. Sharing and processors

We do not sell your personal information. We share data with service providers that help us run the App, such as: • Supabase (authentication, database, and cloud functions—for example AI chat, feedback storage, account deletion). • Movie metadata providers (such as TMDB)—typically title IDs and search queries, not your profile, when our servers fetch posters and details. • AI providers (for example OpenAI or similar)—subsets of your AI messages and context needed to answer you. • Apple/Google—if you use their sign-in or in-app purchase systems, under their policies. • Expo—notifications infrastructure if you use push. Those providers process data under their own terms and only as needed to deliver the feature you use.

7. International transfers

Our providers may store or process data in countries outside your own (including the United States). Where required, we use appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses or equivalent mechanisms offered by our vendors.

8. Retention

We keep information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the App, then delete or anonymise it within a reasonable period after account deletion or prolonged inactivity, unless we must keep it longer for legal, tax, or security reasons. Feedback messages may be retained to handle support and improve the product. Server logs are typically kept for a limited rolling period.

9. Your rights and choices

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to certain processing, and to data portability. You can update profile fields in the App, adjust notification toggles in Settings, change language from Settings (flag in the top-right), and delete your account in Settings (permanent deletion flow). You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. To exercise rights, email support@movyne.app or use Settings → Feedback / report a bug.

10. Children

The App is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided data, email support@movyne.app and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

11. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information (such as access controls and encrypted connections to our services). No system is perfectly secure; please use a strong password and keep your device updated.

12. Changes and contact

We may update this policy. We will post the new version in the App and change the “Last updated” date. Material changes may also be highlighted in the App where appropriate. Questions or requests: support@movyne.app, or Settings → Feedback / report a bug in the App.
